There has never been more delicious or varied Indian food in Denver. The days of the lunch buffet with saag and samosas ruling the scene are long gone, though they are still delicious. These days, new eateries are going gourmet, going vegan, or serving cuisine that hasn’t gained much traction in the US.

Deciding between the plethora of options can be daunting, as there is so much to discover. For your convenience, we have compiled a list of the top 5 Indian restaurants in Denver that specialize in Indian cuisines, ranging from Boulder’s idli to Denver’s biryani, to assist you in exploring this fascinating area of Colorado dining.

Top 5 Indian Restaurants in Denver

1. The Spice Room

3100 E Colfax Ave, Denver, CO 80206

There are two types of butter chicken: the Spice Room’s version and others. Situated slightly outside of Denver’s Highland neighborhood, this neighborhood Indian restaurant in Denver offers some of the best curries in town, with the butter chicken being the highlight of the menu. You’ll find yourself ordering this dish repeatedly from the Spice Room. It can feed two people if you pair it with some garlic naan, but we have a suspicion you might not want to share.

2. Taj Palace Food Truck

1551 Wewatta St, Denver, CO 80202, United States

The Taj Palace food truck has amazing Indian food, so you really should make your way there as soon as possible. The truck is conveniently parked in Union Station, right next to Whole Foods, Monday through Friday. If you’re fortunate enough to live or work nearby, you should consider making this place your go-to lunch spot. With just seven main courses, samosa and pakora options, and a few daily specials, the menu is small but still offers all the well-known Indian favorites you would expect, plus each entree comes with a side of naan. For the price, the portions are substantial, and the food has a deep, flavorful flavor.

3. Samosa Shop

Biju’s little curry shop used to be one of the greatest Indian restaurants in Denver, but sadly, they have closed their doors forever. We are fortunate that former Biju’s chef Dave Hadley has launched an incredible business called Samosa Shop. Samosa Shop is available at pop-ups throughout the city, so check their Instagram account to find out where they’ll be every week! Try all three of their flavors of samosas, which are crispy pockets full of fluffy, aromatic goodness. The most spicy flavor is chicken. Get ready for a spicy, tongue-tingling experience!

4. Serene Cuisine of India

2070 S University Blvd, Denver, CO 80210, United States

One of the top Indian restaurants in Denver is Serene Cuisine of India, which stands out in the DU neighborhood’s abundance of dining options. There’s a good selection of food, including vindaloos and curries, whether you visit for lunch or dinner. The tandoori chicken, which comes with three drumsticks, two breasts, and a ton of veggies with masala sauce on the side, is our top choice. The intricate, slightly smoky taste of the chicken and vegetables is simply divine. Mango cheesecake is a great way to cap off your dinner if you have room.

5. Himchuli

3489 W 32nd Ave, Denver, CO 80211, United States

Of all the Indian restaurants in Denver, Himchuli is the best because it serves exceptionally well-executed Indian food and has seven different levels of spiciness. With your meal, a refreshing mango lassi is the ideal thirst quencher, whether you want to tread carefully or take a risk. Try the combination starter while you wait for your main course (you could close your eyes and point to any entree on the menu here) to get a taste of everything Himchuli has to offer. When your food is served, you might find yourself taking it to go because the momos and pakoras are so incredibly addictive.
